Jo Anne Kleifgen
is Professor Emeritus of Linguistics and Education at Teachers College, Columbia University. She is a founding member and served as co-director of the Center for Multiple Languages and Literacies (CMLL), and she currently serves as president of the International Linguistic Association. She taught courses in general linguistics, bilingualism, discourse analysis, and new media for language and literacy.
Her research has focused on language use in multilingual classrooms and on the use of new media to strengthen bilingualism and biliteracy in Haitian and Latina/o students.
